  Just went to the Consulate General of Vietnam this morning for a visa. After googling for information on visa fees, no information was found, so thought I would share what I learned today. $80 for one month single entry visa. $30 for expedited service which had the visa processed within 30 minutes. Get there before they open to avoid the lines. Very efficient and painless. Oh, and they take credit cards or at least they did today.

  Rating based on uncomplicated visa for foreigner experience: --Got there about 11 on a Wednesday in August with only one person in the queue. --friendly counter service with no language issues for monolingual English speakers --Drop off Wednesday, picked up Monday without expedited service. --Takes Visa credit card (and perhaps others) without surcharge --$185 for one year, multiple entry. Other types available. --visa period begins on the date you propose in the application, which is a change from years ago --keys on counter for restrooms down the hall --not that it matters but the visa is machine readable, unlike come countries in the region

  Came here a couple times so far to get paperwork notarised. The person at the front desk is nice and soft-spoken, but the notary prices are a bit over the top: $50 for "regular" documents and $70 for "property-related" ones, per signature, and an extra $30 to have them done within the hour, also per signature; without paying for the expedited service, it'll take them 3-5 days to process. Same principles apply to visas and other travel documents. I ended up dropping $300 on them for 3 identical copies during just one visit on a Friday afternoon; at least it's super empty then with no lines..
